David is a licensed and registered architect in Colombia and Germany with more than 11 years of experience in the management, design, consulting, and construction of different types of architectural and urban design projects. In 2011, David earned a master’s degree in Territorial Planning from the Politécnico di Torino in Italy that provided him with the tools to propose innovative and sustainable strategies in the planning and design of each new project.
He is currently in the process of obtaining a license in the USA. David’s professional experience includes residential remodeling with Ing, Boris Kommer in Wiesbaden, Germany; the remodeling of a plastic industrial plant in Sarreguemines, France; interior and furniture design for the clothing brands Pat Primo and Seven-Seven in Central and South America and lastly; leading activities for the design and opening plan of more than 50 supermarkets for the Portuguese multinational Jerónimo Martíns.
As an Associate Designer for Fielding International, David’s ideas about the school design have evolved from a standardized instructional pedagogical model, which took the classroom as the minimum unit of replication and repetition that had its peak in Latin America and Germany in the post-war times of Hans Scharoun (German modern architect). His design experience with Fielding International has exposed him to the emerging 21st century pedagogical model, which implies designing from a spatial conceptualization that promotes curiosity, connectivity, critical thinking, community, communication, and creativity in each child through its experience with their environment.
David now lives in Providence, RI with his wife and young daughter.
