Employee Benefits

At Fielding International, we prioritize the well-being of our employees, offering a comprehensive benefits package for full-time staff working at least 30 hours per week. Here’s what you can expect when you become part of our team:

Health Insurance: We partially fund a health insurance plan provided through BlueCross BlueShield, which includes two Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) options. This flexibility enables you to choose healthcare providers even outside the designated network.

Dental and Vision Coverage: We provide access to dental insurance through MetLife and vision insurance through VSP. These options aim to ensure our employees have well-rounded healthcare coverage.

Short-Term Disability: Life is unpredictable. That’s why we offer company-paid short-term disability insurance through MetLife. If an illness, injury, or pregnancy keeps you from work beyond your available paid time off, our short-term disability plans offer financial support, allowing you to focus on recovery.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA): Our FSA allows you to allocate a portion of your pre-tax wages for qualified expenses, providing financial flexibility. This account can be particularly beneficial for childcare costs or uncovered medical expenses.

401(k) Plan: To support your future financial stability, we offer a 401(k) plan and match 20% of your contributions, up to a maximum of $2,000 annually.

Paid Time Off (PTO): Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we provide 5 weeks (200 hours) of PTO each year, which includes the flexibility for employees to designate the holidays they choose to observe. Additionally, a carry-forward option allows for up to 40 hours from the previous calendar year to be utilized in the following year.

Volunteer Time Off (VTO): Beyond regular PTO, we’re proud to offer up to 20 hours of VTO each year. This initiative aligns with our mission as a B Corp organization, encouraging employees to volunteer their time to education-related and community-focused activities.

Wellness Program: We support healthy lifestyles by offering an annual reimbursement of up to $400 for wellness activities such as gym memberships, fitness classes, personal training sessions, massages, and nutritional counseling.

Cell Phone Reimbursement: We provide a monthly cell phone stipend for employees who use their personal phones for company-related activities.

Industry Membership: For licensed professionals, we cover the fees associated with memberships to industry organizations such as the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

Professional Development: We believe in the continuous growth of our employees. Therefore, we reimburse the costs for each professional exam fee after an employee successfully passes.

ARE Study Resources: We maintain a firm license of Amber Book, offering premier study prep for those pursuing architecture licensure. Notably, Amber Book enrollees who complete over 75% of the course achieve an impressive 80% pass rate, outperforming the 55% national average.

We are a Certified B Corporation

We’re part of a community using business as a force for good. Being a B Corp means that we measure more than our profit. We strive to continually improve our social practices and our environmental impact with every commitment we make. This certification is a recognition of our 20-year mission of providing a social benefit to the world. We founded this firm solely focused on designing schools and transforming educational environments for learners to thrive in the 21st century and beyond. Because of our hyper focus on this work we only take on projects where we provide a benefit and have purpose.

This is also a commitment to the health and wellness of our employees by not only providing meaningful work, but by offering support with a work/life balance and opportunities for personal growth and professional development.

Setting a high standard for ourselves and our work is essential for so many reasons; for our team, our clients, our partners, the communities we serve, and for future generations. We continuously look for new ways to strengthen our volunteer and pro bono work, providing guidance to those who do not have the means to elevate themselves in their communities, as well as closely examine relationships and seek connections of mutual benefits

Internship Opportunities

Fielding International Internships are not tied to any one aspect of architecture, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in all elements of the professional planning and design process. You’ll collaborate with our studio teams to generate new ideas, explore and research relevant design patterns, aid in the preparation of client materials, work with team members from master planning and concept design, through construction while gaining experience with a host of other tasks.

We seek students who are not only serious about their own education, but who are excited about the opportunities to improve teaching and learning environments for future generations. We approach every client’s school community with curiosity, and we have fun doing it!

Fielding looks for strong academic track records, involvement in student organizations and demonstrated leadership among peers. We encourage students who are enrolled in architectural, or other relevant degree programs to apply.

Our small informal studios embrace a culture where collaboration is encouraged, ambition is valued, and diverse thought is celebrated.

The Fielding Internship Program offers opportunity to research and explore the future of learning. Working with our team, Interns identify goals and lead initiatives that drive the improvement of school design. Read more about our latest project.

Designing for Well-Being

A book of design solutions for holistic well-being in education

Recently, the Fielding International design team worked closely with an Intern to dive deeper into “Designing for Well-Being” as related to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We proudly shared our findings which provide design solutions to challenges that threaten the well-being of learners - ones that either pose as present significance in the field of education or are new themes anticipated from current circumstance. The patterns provided within this book are coupled under three core issues of wellness, security, and environment. They offer spatial design suggestions as well as conceptual guidelines and are a result of emergent, transformative thinking for the educational setting.
